How to embed a PDF on your website
Embedding a PDF on your website should be a ten-second job, and with PDF Deck it is.
- Upload your PDF above. You'll land on the PDF's settings page.
- Go back to your dashboard and click Embed on the document.
- Copy the embed code and paste it into your site's HTML where you want the PDF to appear.
Here's what an embedded PDF looks like on a real page:
Why this beats the browser's native PDF embed
The classic way to show a PDF on a web page is <embed> or <object> pointing at a PDF file. It works - until it doesn't.
- Mobile browsers often refuse to render inline PDFs and force a download.
- Some desktop browsers fall back to a plugin prompt that most users don't have.
- You have no control over the toolbar, zoom, or page-turn behaviour.
- If you update the file, cached copies float around forever.
PDF Deck's embed is a lightweight iframe backed by our browser-native viewer. It renders consistently on desktop and mobile, works without any plugin, and always shows the latest version of the file because the link points to your document, not a specific file URL.
What you can customise
- Display mode: standard PDF, flipbook, or presentation - change from the settings page and the embed updates.
- Download: enable or disable the download button per document.
- Branding: remove the "Shared with PDF Deck" corner on any paid plan.
- Dimensions: it's just an iframe, so width and height are yours to style with CSS.
Who embeds PDFs
- Marketers putting whitepapers, case studies, and one-pagers on landing pages.
- Designers embedding portfolios, look books, and style guides.
- Educators and publishers including course material inline.
- Nonprofits and government sites sharing reports, annual reviews, and regulatory documents.
- Anyone running a Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, or bespoke site that needs a reliable PDF embed.
Is the embed really free?
Yes. Every PDF you upload gets an embed snippet at no cost. Paid plans are for people who need more documents, larger file sizes, a custom domain, or to remove the PDF Deck corner mark. See pricing.
